PARENTAL CONTROL

PARENTAL CONTROL

Thanks to MTV, frustrated parents will once again get the chance to kick their kid's loser boyfriends and girlfriends to the curb!

MTV gives parents a chance to interfere in their children's relationship. Do you think parents know who's the best choice for their child? Should they play match makers? If not where do you think do people find their true soulmates these days?

  1. I believe that parents can try to make matches for their children. However, i think it is the childs choice weather or not they want to stay with that person. I think this because no matter how well the parent knows their child they do not know for sure what qualitys they look for in a boy or a girl. I think its great that parents want to steer their children in the right direction but overall it is the childs decision to see who they want.

  2. To be frank, I have no personal belief in the idea of a "soulmate". Such things are reserved merely for the colourful world of fables.
That aside, the idea of parental interference in ones relations is... disconcerting, to say the least. Though the idea has its own merits, due to many courtships being little more than flights of fancy these days, parents do not carry the natural tendency for finding virtually anyone worthy of their 'little angel(s)'. While a good outside view of how a relationship is progressing would be able to prevent many of the pitfalls inherent in current society, ones own parents are probably not the most effective view to look from.

  3. i think that parents should have a say in who their children date, they just shouldnt have total control. it's all apart of growing up. the more you learn about the person you want to spend the rest of your life with, the happier you will be. parent's interference will only make things worse.. in my opinion :)

  4. In my opinion parents usually have way to high standards for their kids relationship. When your parents don't know someone as good as you do how can they tell you that you should not be with them. Parents are always trying to control things that they usually know nothing about. I know whats good for me and if I don't like something then I will change it myself, I don't need someone else's help.

  5. I don't think our parents should be allowed to interfere with our relationships. I have had it happen to me before where my parents made me get rid of my girlfriend because they didn't like her. Our parents know us to an extant but I don't think they know us that well that they can pick our relationships. The MTV show parental control is funny but it does not seem like a real life thing.

  6. Hi there!
well I wrote in Blog 4 now because nobody wrote something at the other task but it's OK. I'll write in here again :)
I totally agree with Zack's opinion, your parents know you quite a bit but don't know everything about you and I think it's good if you don't tell your parents everything or they know all the things you do,...
